Makerere University Business School (MUBS) has reached another important milestone in its leadership journey following the appointment of Assoc. Prof. Rachel Mindra Katoroogo as the Substantive Deputy Principal.


The appointment confirms Assoc. Prof. Mindra Katoroogo in one of the institution's top leadership positions after she previously served as Acting Deputy Principal. Her earlier acting appointment took effect on October 15, 2025, following a merit-based process, and she made history as the first woman to hold the position at MUBS.

Assoc. Prof. Mindra Katoroogo brings extensive experience in academic leadership, finance, research and institutional development to the office of the Deputy Principal. Before assuming the acting role, she served as Dean of the Faculty of Commerce, where she contributed to academic leadership and the development of staff and students.

Her professional background includes expertise in finance, development research, project management, curriculum development and stakeholder engagement. She holds a PhD in Finance from Wits Business School at the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa, as well as qualifications in money, banking and finance and business administration.

Beyond academia, Assoc. Prof. Mindra Katoroogo has contributed to several professional and governance institutions, reflecting a career that combines teaching, research, leadership and public service. Her work has also included a strong interest in youth financial inclusion, mentorship and community service.

The appointment comes at a time when MUBS continues to strengthen its academic programmes, research, innovation, governance and student development agenda. The institution's official management information currently lists Assoc. Prof. Rachel Mindra Katoroogo as Deputy Principal.
